You should address your letter of motivation to the principal investigator of the CRC 1411 project for which you are applying. In your letter you should justify, with reference to your academic background and work experience, your motivation and suitability for your projects of interest. This statement is critical for our first round screening process and applications lacking it or with insufficient justification (A simple "I am very interested in Project xy" is insufficient) are likely to be rejected. You may also comment on your suitability for further projects, where appropriate. Moreover, you should indicate, again with evidence from your portfolio, your aptitude for interdisciplinary work. *
